Fish, fishes (often used interchangeably): should know that words have different meanings. The first of them is used either as singular noun or to describe a group of specimens from a single species while the second one describes a group of different species.

In the Book of Jonah – Jonah (prophet) was swallowed by a "great fish". The famous myths of alf-human, half-fish mermaids have featured in legends like those of Hans Christian Andersen Or movies like Splash.

There are many definitions of fish:
